Texas holdem is a game of information, so the earlier you have to enter the pot in a game, the less information you have on the other players cards.
Your starting hands should therefore be very solid when you are one of the first ones to act at the table.
The best strategy when you are positioned in the first three seats from the the dealer or the button is to play hands like; A-A, K-K,
Q-Q, A-Ks(suited), A-Q and J-J.
Always raise with A-A, K-K and A-K.
When you are sitting at the middle of the table (seat 4 7) in relation to the dealer than you have gathered some information on the players in front of you, and you can loosen up your starting hands if no one has raised ahead of you.
In this position you can call with; A-Q, K-Qs,
A-J, K-Js, A-10s, 10-10, 9-9 and 8-8.
Raise or re-raise with; A-A, K-K and A-Ks.
Call or raise with A-K, Q-Q.and J-J.
If someone raises behind you than you should re-raise with A-A and K-K.
Just call with A-K, Q-Q and J-J.
Consider folding all other hands.
When you are sitting at the end of the table (seat 8-10 from the dealer), or in late position, than you can open up your starting hand requirements even more if no one has raised the pot ahead of you.
Suited connectors like J-10s,10-9s,9-8s,8-7s,
7-6s, and 6-5 suited can be highly profitable.
Smaller pairs like 7-7, 6-6, 5-5 and 4-4 can be played if there has been no raise ahead of you.
Throw all these hands in the muck pile if you should miss the flop and/or someone in front of you bets.
These starting hands are for loose passive Texas Holdem tables where at least 50% of the players at the table in average will see the flop.
